Alternatives to Autokern
When designing a typeface, a type designer has the following kerning options:
- Kerning by hand. This process can be time-consuming, but is preferred by many type designers as the only way to get high-quality results.
- A professional kerning service, such as iKern.
- Commercial kerning software, such as DTL Kern Master.
- Auto-kerning features of commercial type design software, such as FontLab Studio or Fontographer.
